![]() I'm trying to create an atlas for mesh objects to reduce draw calls. Hi, I recently tried your extension and it looks great! Thanks for your work. TexturePacker does this for you - with a single click. If you want to use normal mapped sprites for dynamic light effects in your game, you have to create sprite sheets with the same layout for normal maps and diffuse maps. You can even hand off the sprite sheet creation to your artist. The free TexturePacker Importer plugin for Unity automatically re-imports the data as soon as you re-enter Unity's editor. The polygon packing mode generates tightly packed sprite sheets, reducing the memory amount compared to rectangular packing algorithms. You see all changes applied to the sprite sheet in real time. TexturePacker comes with an easy to use UI that allows you to manage the sprite sheets. The tracer tolerance slider gives you control over the optimization. TexturePacker's high-quality polygon tracer creates meshes with a low vertex count and overdraw. A too low vertex count, on the other hand, is also bad because this hands much work over to the GPU. So reducing the number of vertices is important. Vertices are expensive - because the CPU is required to transform them. Unity creates triangle meshes for all sprites - but the generated meshes often have too many vertices and high overdraw. Use the free TexturePacker Importer from Unity asset store to easily import the sprite sheets into Unity.

So behold Medion RX 460 2GB single slot graphics card priced at around 75 EUR / 82 USD which is around 67% of new Sapphire Radeon RX 560 Pulse 2GB from the local shop (cheapest RX 560 2GB I could find). One of them even listed that's a MSI card made for Medion (although it could have been made by ECS instead). Some time ago I saw on the local ebay-alike site two sellers offering a big stock of skinny looking RX 460 cards coming from Medion PC disassembling. They offer a wide range of electronics including laptops, computers and accessories. Medion AG is a German company owned by Lenovo. TSMC 14 nm node is rather stable and mature so lets check what quality two non-consumer RX 460 cards will reveal to us. But is it true? Are chips, in this case low end GPU chips, sorted in such way? Does silicon quality differs so much that they would have to be sorted? To some extent it will depend on the process node - how good are the yields and chips quality stability. If it's not intended to go into a super OC GPU card then why bother with picking parts with high OC potential for the OEM basket? Similarly we could expect that no name cards are either fake or some cheap bin of chips for a local market. OEM, parts designed to go in high quantities, to be put in a mass made generic consumer product could be less efficient than those in flagship products. But what happens when a graphics card is destined to live it days as a OEM card in an pre-built PC? Or what it won't end up in a MSI, Gigabye, Sapphire or other well known brand product? Let's take a loot at Medion OEM and Jegy RX 460 cards to find out. Graphic cards try to appeal to us with impressive cooling solutions, factory overclocks or RGB, lots of RGB. The Book of the Dead: This Tibetan text describes the stages of death in detail.Sutras: There are more than 2,000 sutras, which are sacred teachings embraced mainly by Mahayana Buddhists.Tipitaka: These texts, known as the “three baskets,” are thought to be the earliest collection of Buddhist writings. In no particular order, the Eightfold Path of Buddhism teaches the following ideals for ethical conduct, mental disciple and achieving wisdom:īuddhists revere many sacred texts and scriptures. Some forms of Buddhism incorporate ideas of other religions and philosophies, such as Taoism and Bon. The term nirvana means “blowing out,” as a candle is blown out, thus ending all attachment and desire to achieve a state of pure enlightenment.Įach of these types reveres certain texts and has slightly different interpretations of Buddha’s teachings. Nirvana Buddhism is closely related to Theravada Buddhism, but the concept of nirvana is also central to many paths of Buddhism. It emphasizes simplicity and meditation-the word “zen” means meditation-in lieu of religious scripture, ceremonies or doctrines. Zen Buddhism is a form of Mahayana Buddhism that’s practiced in many of the same areas.Tibetan Buddhism: Prevalent in Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia, Bhutan, and parts of Russia and northern India.Mahayana Buddhism: Prevalent in China, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore and Vietnam.Theravada Buddhism: Prevalent in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Laos and Burma. The three main types that represent specific geographical areas include: Today, many forms of Buddhism exist around the world. Islam began to spread quickly in the region during the Middle Ages, forcing Buddhism into the background. In the sixth century, the Huns invaded India and destroyed hundreds of Buddhist monasteries, but the intruders were eventually driven out of the country. The thoughts and philosophies of Buddhists became diverse, with some followers interpreting ideas differently than others. Over the next few centuries, Buddhism began to spread beyond India. Buddhist monasteries were built, and missionary work was encouraged. In the 3rd century B.C., Ashoka the Great, the Mauryan Indian emperor, made Buddhism the state religion of India. Buddha’s teachings became the foundation for what would develop into Buddhism. When Gautama passed away around 483 B.C., his followers began to organize a religious movement. There is no single Buddhist symbol, but a number of images have evolved that represent Buddhist beliefs, including the lotus flower, the eight-spoked dharma wheel, the Bodhi tree and the swastika (an ancient symbol whose name means "well-being" or "good fortune" in Sanskrit).Buddhist monks, or bhikkhus, follow a strict code of conduct, which includes celibacy.Followers of Buddhism can worship in temples or in their own homes.Buddhists embrace the concepts of karma (the law of cause and effect) and reincarnation (the continuous cycle of rebirth).Buddha’s most important teachings, known as The Four Noble Truths, are essential to understanding the religion. ![]() Buddhism encourages its people to avoid self-indulgence but also self-denial.Some scholars don’t recognize Buddhism as an organized religion, but rather, a “way of life” or a “spiritual tradition.”.There are many philosophies and interpretations within Buddhism, making it a tolerant and evolving religion.Buddhists often meditate because they believe it helps awaken truth. The path to enlightenment is attained by utilizing morality, meditation and wisdom. The religion’s founder, Buddha, is considered an extraordinary being, but not a god. When followers reach this spiritual echelon, they’re said to have experienced nirvana. They instead focus on achieving enlightenment-a state of inner peace and wisdom. ![]()

Along with lower prices, the diversity of products and services offers consumers a variety of options. When one company isn't allowed to control the market in a monopoly, the public can shop and compare. In 1954, this was deemed a violation of the Sherman Act for product “tying.” Kodak was then required to license the film processing to third-party vendors.Īntitrust laws give American consumers a number of benefits. The company started including a fee in the pricing structure for processing and delivery. It developed Kodacolor instead, and only Kodak could develop it. In 1921, the company was no longer allowed to sell private-label film under its label. Kodak won several antitrust lawsuits, but a couple of them led to stronger laws. At one point, the company controlled almost the entire camera and film market in America with a 96 percent share. The division of Kodak is another example. Today, only three are left: AT&T, Qwest, and Verizon. As a result, the company was divided into seven separate regional companies. It took seven years before a verdict was reached. However, the Attorney General filed an antitrust lawsuit against the company in 1974. There are slight differences in this example because AT&T was permitted to work as a natural monopoly for many years. Repercussions are still being felt from the forced breakup of AT&T. The company lost nearly $70 billion in market value as a result. Consumers had choices in what to purchase, but Microsoft was still found guilty of violating anti-competition laws. In this example, however, other market options existed, such as Apple. When the tech company began bundling products such as Windows and Explorer, they ran afoul of the law. The Microsoft case is another famous example. When brought to trial, Standard Oil owned 64 percent of the market with 147 other competitors sharing the rest. The company bought up several refineries that weren't able to compete. As its control of the market increased, the company lowered production costs and prices even more while still making bigger profits. The company dropped prices by more than 50 percent and bought up several of its competitors. Rockefeller's Standard Oil is one of the most well-known antitrust law examples. Its purpose is to protect small businesses by limiting the ability of big companies to use their purchasing power to command discriminatory discounts. The Robinson-Patman Act of 1936 governs price discrimination. This act protects healthy competition in the interstate commerce field. ![]() The act essentially gives the government the power to challenge large-scale moves by corporations, so it also creates a barrier against monopoly creation.Īnother civil statute is the Federal Trade Commission Act, passed in 1914. ![]() The Clayton Act is a civil statute designed to protect competition and prevent skyrocketing prices due to certain business practices, acquisitions, and mergers. This act prohibits contracts and conspiracies that hurt competition in order to form a monopoly. This is the main law regarding free market competition. In 1890, the Sherman Antitrust Act was passed. Violations of antitrust laws are viewed as white-collar crimes since they: Companies must provide higher quality products or charge lower prices in a competitive market if they want to be successful. When competition exists among sellers, consumers benefit from lower prices, more choices, better quality, and greater innovation. Corporate mergers that have the potential to reduce competition in particular markets.Predatory acts to achieve and maintain a monopoly. The types of illegal practices that antitrust laws target include the following: The laws prohibit several practices that restrain trade, and they're necessary for a free and open marketplace. Antitrust laws govern transportation, manufacturing, marketing, and distribution. The laws are designed to protect competition. What Is Antitrust?Īntitrust laws are statues that apply to nearly all industries and levels of business. Businesses must observe all antitrust laws as they relate to their commercial activities. In addition, each state has antitrust laws that complement federal laws.
