One afternoon Mabel arrived at The Arconia and got in the elevator with Charles-Haden Savage and Oliver Putnam. When Mabel's aunt decided to renovate her apartment at The Arconia, she asked Mabel to do it and allowed Mabel to live in the apartment during the renovation. He said he didn't know what she was talking about and told her to pretend she didn't know him if she saw him in the hallway. She went to see Tim, telling him Oscar was about to be released from prison, and telling him he could still go make things right and tell what he'd seen. Ten years after Zoe's death, Mabel returned to the Arconia to remodel her aunt's apartment. Zoe's death and Oscar's arrest deeply affected Mabel and made her mother very concerned about Mabel. Tim told Mabel that he saw someone other than Oscar arguing with Zoe but Tim refused to tell the police, allowing Oscar to be sent to prison for Zoe's murder. New Year's Eve IncidentÄuring one New Year's Eve where the Hardy Boys attended a party on the roof of the Arconia, Zoe was pushed from the roof and died. Although Zoe and her family lived on the entire 11th floor of the Arconia, she would steal things of value whenever the Hardy Boys broke into an apartment. Oscar, whose dad is the Arconia's superintendent, copied his dad's key so the Hardy Boys could break into any apartment while the owners were out of town. At some point, Mabel and Tim met Oscar Torres and Zoe Cassidy. The two eventually became good friends, and would reunite every school break when Mabel visited the Arconia to read The Hardy Boys book series and pretend they were the Hardy Boys, solving mysteries they would make up around Tim's apartment for years. Tim became interested in a book Mabel was reading, The Missing Chums from The Hardy Boys series. In 2002 or 2003, while spending time at the Arconia, Mabel met Tim Kono in the building's inner courtyard when she was drawing at the fountain, interrupting Tim's game. She would spent every school break at the Arconia with her wealthy aunt Salma Ramirez, who lived in apartment 12E. Mabel grew up in Bayport, Long Island, where she lived with her mother Silvia Mora, who was a single mother after the death of Mabel's father. When he ended up in the hospital, Mabel visited him and lay in his bed with him. Unbeknownst to Mabel, her father had stomach cancer. Mabel became frustrated when her father began breaking promises to her. She visited him at his new place, where they did puzzles together, using tricks to make them more of a challenge. When Mabel was a child, her parents told her her father had to move out for work.
